Lumbini University Signs MOU with Nankai and Macao Universities to Boost Himalayan Research
Lumbini University (LBU) recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nankai University and Macao University, marking a significant step toward collaborative research in the Himalayan region.
Prof. Ritu Giri, Research Director at LBU, shed light on the university’s focus on Himalayan cultural studies as a priority area. The partnership aims to ramp up research activities, incorporating think tanks to drive innovation. It also explores traditional and integrative medicine as exciting new frontiers for global scholarship.

LBU’s Vice Chancellor emphasized Nepal’s priceless treasure—the Himalayas—and Lumbini’s unique legacy as the birthplace of Lord Buddha, a distinction shared by no other place in the world. He underscored LBU’s mission as the sole university dedicated to spreading Buddha’s principles globally.
The ceremony culminated in mutual agreement, with Chau Hou representing Nankai University and the Vice Chancellor signing on behalf of LBU. As a token of appreciation, a statue of the Buddha was presented to Chau Hou.
